Yes, here we are again. Hello, online friends! I'm glad to share a glimpse inside the creation and realization of my Yoki this time around.
I also wanted to use this article to mention toys I have created for the collectors of this edition piece! I wanted to make a cute simple desk version of Yoki, so I took off his arms and legs, packed them away, and gave him his mic but double the size 🙂 I thought a mic that is not connected to the actual toy would be really cute as well 🙂
The process of creating Yoki, the karaoke machine, using virtual reality sculpting is an exhilarating adventure that combines a combination of artistic skill and technological know-how.
To create Yoki, we began by using a VR sculpting tool to shape and define the character's form and features. This allowed us to quickly experiment with different designs and make adjustments until we were satisfied with the overall look and feel of the character. I sadly was unable to catch a video of me sculpting Yoki this time, but if you have seen my work, there are tons of timelapse videos you can watch via youtube to get a better visual idea of the process!
Following the completion of the Yoki sculpting, we moved on to the process of texturing the character and environment. I create the textures that I like to think about in my head using a technique that is called stable diffusion. I believe that a lot of people can quickly come to dislike AI and what it has brought forward into the art scene, but I have simply been using it as a tool to push the boundaries of my artwork. It seems very reasonable to me.
Then, i animated Yoki with a rokoko web cam mocap program. Because of this, we were able to give the character life and individuality through its motion. My usual workflow involves donning a complete mocap outfit, but with Rokoko's recent release of a webcam mocap, I had to give it a try.
Finally, we rendered Yoki in blender, a powerful 3D graphics software, to create the final image of the character. The result was a beautifully detailed and dynamic character that truly captures the essence of Yoki and its special abilities.
And finally, what a Phettaverse art piece without a groovy track from yours truly! I have been getting really comfortable with my voice again, for those of you who don't know, before 3D art, and painting, I actually made music! It was a WAYY diff vibe, I was a little emo boy! But if you search Emotionull you can def still find it out there 😉
Overall, the creative process of VR sculpting Yoki was an exciting and rewarding experience that allowed us to bring a unique and captivating character to life. I can't wait for the world to see Yoki in action and experience its incredible powers for themselves.
