Behind The Scenes: Creating Art.. Maybe Rambling?

Date

I'm sure I'll end up regretting this one day. I'm writing this to give people a glimpse into my creative process and the environment in which I create. (Which, by the way, is also my room, wow, look at that.) That's right, baby! It's like if I'm sleeping in a miniature creative studio. It might be overwhelming at times, but I enjoy it most of the time. I like being able to get up and go to work right away. Who knows, maybe no one bothers to read this! I'll compose it just for fun and to get my creative juices flowing. I'm also quite ADHD, so having stuff in my face is beneficial.

I am currently starting this post on 9/24/21. I doubt I'll finish it this day as it is 10:49 PM. So let's get started!

I'll start with what I make and who I am in case you happen to come across this in some strange future timeline, perhaps in the year 2040, and discover it in some type of archive. That would be great. Please email me or utilize whichever method we are using at the time.

Sorry for rambling so much, my name is Emotionull! I am 23 years old! Soon to be 24 years old (Oh jeez.) I've been doing art in various ways since I was 18 years old. My grandmother was an art teacher, and my mother was into the punk scene, so I grew up surrounded by art and freedom of expression. Basically, I was allowed to do and say how I felt, which I will be eternally grateful for. I've made art in the genres of video, music, painting, and now 3D!

Hey! it's me!

This thread will be more about my 3D work and the tools I'm currently using. Currently, I make art with a VR headset, which also happens to be an Occulus Quest 2! You might be wondering, "Isn't that for video games?" Well.  It also offers a large collection of creative apps, which is pretty great! From virtual art to virtual DJing to what I do! Sculpting in Virtual Reality! You may get a brief idea by watching the timelapse video below! A big thank you to Joy as well who told me about VR sculpting!

After sculpting and having fun in virtual space, I import the sculpt into Blender and work on lighting, materials, camera angles, and so on to create a great render of the piece! One thing that I believe is sometimes forgotten is that I create a new piece every day! Sort of expanding on the idea that is Phettaverse. Is there a genuine purpose to create a work of art every day? Maybe so, but it keeps me focused and grounded since I recovered from drug addiction and depression. As a result, it makes sense to me.

Woah! The piece I made today. 9/24/21

When I initially heard about 3D art, I only knew it in terms of building and sculpting models on a 2d screen, which has always been really difficult for me. I can proudly (or perhaps not so proudly) state that I still have no idea how to sculpt with Blender. I also never did the stupid damn donut. (Fuck The Donut) My approach to learning a program or tool for you to create is to discover what works best for you. I'm not big on following the rules of certain software or the way you're meant to do things. That is not to say that I am dismissive of those who do! My ADHD brain simply cannot! Haha.

After rendering them in Blender, I usually edit up the timelapse, which is really just me speeding up the video and adding some weird music, either my own or some great Nintendo music. (You'll never be able to stop me, Nintendo.)

I suppose the general thing I've been most obsessed with since starting 3D art is putting my 3D work into the actual world. I think I've made some decent improvements since I started doing 3D art a few months ago! I've been 3D printing and hand painting/post-processing some models that I've sculpted! This has been a very enjoyable project. I was extremely concerned about putting the printer together, but it turned out to be a breeze, which I was very grateful for. I'm also grateful for the crypto art community as a whole, as well as the great individuals I've met who have encouraged me and enabled me to follow my ambitions and ideas.

Once I've completed putting together the textures and lighting for a work, you can usually see a finished result, and depending on my mood or the story I'm trying to tell, you could be a part of that final conclusion. Today's essay helped me consider the broader picture a little more. My overall objectives are expanding as I meet new ones, and I haven't felt this wonderful in a long time. Typically, I feel myself approaching these depressive eras or periods when I feel horrible, and they tend to be more prevalent in the winter, but I'm not sure, I feel really good about this year and what I've been making.
Big Dreams - 2021

It's 11:37 p.m. now… Maybe I was going to do this in one day, and despite the fact that it's just me babbling, I'm enjoying it!
