When it comes to breaking out of my comfort zone and entering discussions, I feel like I am in a funny situation. I always appear to be more of a listener than a speaker when I do so. I'm not sure there's anything wrong with this, but I'd rather have some control over it than have to listen to it out of fear. To be fair, I can stream and chat to a camera and join Twitter spaces just fine, so you'd think fear wouldn't be a thing in the Metaverse… That sensation of dread returned when I went to a developer desert club party. Getting a conversation started may be difficult. How can I share my work and become involved in a discussion about it? Odd, wasn't it? When I arrived at the party, I felt like I was at a genuine one. It was as though I were there. Although I also micro-dosed before this Metaverse trip, was it that?
The last party I went to was in Miami during the NFT event, It's weird, cause in person, I don't typically feel as anxious. Possibly it was a mix of being excited to meet new friends and being excited to share what I am doing... It's hard to share what you're doing in a party-style conversation for me, I feel like maybe I am overtaking the conversation. I think that's a mix of confidence and anxiety.
If you happen to stumble upon a slice of cheese in the Metaverse, you may use it as an icebreaker, and I did just that.. This seems like it may have saved my life if I'd found myself in that scenario. So that was how I got into a few talks. They were cute and made me smile and chuckle despite their little size. Being able to act out your online character at a party is wonderful, I had to play the Phetta part you know?!?!
After the party, I did leave for a bit to go get some nicotine, but when returning, I found everyone was world-hopping! We ended up being shown an AMAZING world built around a Canadian forest if I am correct. It was truly badass, the boat ride did make me a bit nauseous, though, but I get nauseous in everything VR smh. I really enjoyed the conversations here, everyone was deeply involved with building in the Metaverse and had opinions to say, I should have shared some of mine at this point but I was more so truly focused on listening, and not out of a social anxiety feeling.
I enjoyed when Boombox head was explaining NFTS to the Map builder that made the amazing forest, explaining how he can earn from what he creates, and how there is more power to own these creations and sell them. He also had some great points. Who the hell would buy land??? Ahh boy, would he be shocked with this space! haha.
